Comfortable in Sodom!/Cómodo en Sodoma!

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 (KJV)

As we get close to ending 2017, I would like to close this year with a topic that I feel is imperative to our walk with Christ. Especialy the days that we are living in.

Lot, nephew of Abram (Abraham) journeyed with his uncle and other family members to Egypt during the famine in Canaan. While in Egypt they gained a sizeable amount of livestock and wealth. When the famine passed they journeyed toward their homeland but with such a large group conflicts arose between the herds men of Lot and Abraham, to the extent that Abram suggested they part ways. Abraham let Lot choose which way he wanted to go and looking at the plain of the Jordan near Sodom, he saw that it was watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord. That is where Lot decided to take his people and make his home. Facing some unpleasant situations through the years, Lot and his family ended up in Sodom and the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.

How is it that Lot was able to make a comfortable life in Sodom with exceedingly wicked and sinful men? So comfortable was he that he sat at the gate of Sodom with no one bothering him. I'm certain that Lot being nephew of Abraham knew the ways of the Lord just as well as Abraham did. When the men (angels) of the Lord arrived at Sodom Lot rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the ground, a gesture of humility. Lot must have recognized something different in these men. Lot knew what the people of Sodom would do if they found the men out on the street so he pleaded with them to stay with him. Lot made a feast and baked unleavened bread for them but before they lay down the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: and they called out to Lot, and said unto him, where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them. Lot knew it was wrong for these men to do this, he offered his virgen daughters to them, to do with them as they wish. Lot had not had problems with the people of Sodom til this night, finally unable to overlook their ill behavior, he pleaded for them not to do anything to these men. They answered Lot by reminding him that he was a foreigner now trying to be a judge. They threaten to do worse to him than the men.

How many of us have followed a better employment or standard of living into a place where it is wicked and sinful against the Lord? How many of us have moved away from these places but the wickedness and sinfulness has infiltrated our cities. We by living our lives ignoring the wrongful deeds that are going on around us. How easy we forget that we are not of this world, how easy it is to just ignore because we are afraid of having confrontations, forgetting who our defender is. No, it is not our job to change people but it is our job to spread the gospel of Christ even if we are threaten for it, it is our job to interceed for these souls. It is our job to let the Holy Spirit work through us. It's sad to see our nation getting worse, it's sad to see how the souls are being lost and how they don't understand the word of God, it's sad to see how they live in sin and to see how they've forgotten Christ. I can say that as Lot I have gotten comfortable in Sodom. Many people make a New Year's Resolution: mine is to make it a habit of talking to one person a day about Christ. Share my testimonies with others, plant the seed of the gospel and interceed for that seed. I encorage all to do the same. Let's not comform to this world, evaluate within you. Mientras nos acercamos al final del año 2017, me gustaria cerrar este año con un tema que creo que es imprecindible para nuestro caminar con Cristo. Especialmente en los días que estamos viviendo.

Lot, sobrino de Abram (Abraham) viajó con su tío y otros miembros de la familia a egipto durante la hambruna en canaan. Mientras estaban en egipto adquirieron una cantidad considerable de ganado y riqueza. Cuando la hambruna habia pasado viajaron hacia su patria pero con un grupo tan grande conflictos comenzaron a surgir entre los pastores de ganado de Lot y Abraham, tanto que Abraham sugirío que se apartaran. Abraham dejo que Lot eligiera que camino quisiese ir y alzó Lot sus ojos, y vio toda la llanura del Jordan cerca de Sodoma, que toda ella era de riego, como el huerto de Jehová. Ahí es donde Lot decidio llevar a su pueblo y hacer su hogar. Atravez de los años enfrentando situaciones desagradables, Lot y su familia terminaron en Sodoma, mas los hombres de Sodoma eran malos y pecadores contra Jehová en gran manera.

¿Como es que Lot pudo hacer una vida cómoda en Sodoma con hombres malos y pecadores? Tan cómodo estaba él que estaba sentado a la puerta de Sodoma sin que nadie le molestara. Estoy segura que Lot como sobrino de Abraham conocía los caminos de Jehová al igual que Abraham. Cuando los hombres de Jehová llegaron a Sodoma, Lot se levantó a recibirlos y se inclino hacia el suelo, un gesto de humildad. Lot quizás reconoció algo diferente en estos hombres. Lot sabia lo que los hombres de Sodoma le harían a estos hombres si lo encontraban en la calle y les rogo que se quedasen con él. Lot les hizo un banquete y coció pan sin levadura pero antes de que se acostasen los hombres de la ciudad, los varones de Sodoma, todo él pueblo junto, rodearon la casa desde él mas joven hasta él mas viejo. Y llamaron a Lot, y le dijeron: ¿Donde están los varones que vinieron a ti esta noche? Sácalos, para que lo conozcamos. Lot sabia que estaba mal que estos hombres hiciesen hacer esto, él les ofreció sus hijas vírgenes, para que hiciesen con ellas lo que deseasen. Lot no había tenido problemas con la gente de Sodoma hasta esta noche, finalmente no podiendo pasar por alto este mal comportamiento, el les rogó que no les hagáis nada a estos hombres. Ellos les respondieron a Lot recordándole que él era un extranjero tratando de ahora ser juez. Le amenazaron con hacerle peor que a los hombres.

¿Cuanto de nosotros hemos seguido un mejor empleo o nivel de vida en lugar donde hay maldad y pecado contra Jehová? ¿Cuantos nos hemos mudado de estos lugares pero la maldad y él pecado ha infiltrado nuestras ciudades. Viviendo nuestras vidas, ignorando las cosas malas que están ocurriendo en nuestro alrededor. Cuan fácil nos olvidamos que no somos de este mundo, cuan fácil es ignorar porque tenemos miedo de tener enfrentamientos, olvidándonos de quien es nuestro defensor. No, no es nuestro trabajo de cambiar a la gente pero si es nuestro trabajo de regar él evangelio de Cristo aunque nos amenazen, es nuestro trabajo de interceder por estas almas. Es nuestro trabajo de dejar que él Espíritu Santo trabajé en nosotros. Es triste ver nuestra nación empeorando, es triste ver como las almas se pierden, es triste ver como no entienden la palabra, es triste ver como viven en pecado y como se han olvidado de Cristo. Puedo decir que como Lot me he puesto comoda en Sodoma. Muchas personas hacen una resolución de año nuevo: él mio es hacer él habito de hablar con una persona por día sobre Cristo. Compartir mi testimonio con otros, sembrar la semilla del evangelio y interceder por ella. Les amonestó que hagan lo mismo, no nos conforméis a este mundo, evaluate. ¿Te has hecho cómodo en Sodoma? ¿Que vas hacer para cambiarlo?
